Paint My Album - Huge in China

Paint My Album recently viewed their Fanpage on Facebook , and discovered a startling thing. Almost a quarter of our fans are from Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China! This made us very excited, but sad at the same time - we don't speak a word of Chinese. We want to welcome our Chinese friends, but we don't know how.

We tried to write a letter in English, then use an online translator. However, it turned out to be gibberish. Here is an extract of said letter:

'Paint dear China says the ventilator my album, we are welcome you happily in this kind of net phenomenon. You can see that we use program ' All makes the classical album cover again; Microsoft Paint.' It is very simple, and everybody possibly joins. Please have is making the album one to do diligently covers itself, and delivers you can attempt you them to mailto:mpaintmyalbum@gmail.com

Conclusion: If you speak Chinese, please help us reach out.

Covers? Covers:

Fee from Taiwan is one of the only Chinese speaking PMA fans to send in their creations. We need to fix this, because her cover is superb. Imagine how many other album covers are being lost in translation! The detail here is unprecedented. Each swirl

has been painstakingly drawn. Fact My Album - some of these swirls are Dutch roses, others are human ears. This is our first Mansun cover, and please let it not be our last.

Thanks, fee from Taiwan!

Steve Ko from Hong Kong has gone all isometric on our arses with this Blueberry Boat cover from Brooklyn Indie outfit, The Fiery Furnaces. Does it look like an old amiga platform game? Yes. Did it take under an hour? Probably. Are we delighted with the result? Certainly. Steve Ko is the champion of Hong Kong with this beauty. Chief Executive Sir Donald Tsang will be proud.

Thanks, Steve Ko! But what's that? No covers as yet from Mainland China! Come on, Mainlanders, get yourselves together! Send in a cover to paintmyalbum@gmail.com

Much closer to home now, and Stephen Taylor from Manchester only went and did Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers. This is one of those album covers that looks so lifelike we had to look over it with 5 magnifying glasses. The result? Not a paintover, not a forgery, look at the moustache. And the eyes. And the whole face and hands.

Fact My Album - Stephen Taylor was so proud of this that he copied the image onto his iTunes! You are free to do the same. In fact, do that with all of these. Once I myself tried Bob Marley, and it looked dreadful. People threw up when they saw it. I attach it below for your amusement.

I didn't even get the skin colour right. But you know the beautiful thing? It's still going in our art exhibition! That's right! No matter how bad the cover you send in, we will put it up in the gallery in Manchester. You have to do a cover. You must. It will 'complete' you. Send it to paintmyalbum@gmail.com
